Emergency Reinstatement Works at Hillyfields Park

Situation / Challenge

An arson attack occurred at a streetworks site close to a school. Vandals set fire to the pole and associated cabling, leaving the pole in a dangerous condition. The structural integrity of the tower had been compromised, requiring immediate action to make the site safe.

Teligent Response & Delivery
  • Teams were deployed on site within hours of the report.
  • The road was closed to traffic to secure the area and protect the public.
  • The damaged pole was removed under emergency powers using a Crane and Hiab, then transported off site.
  • Once the area was clear of potential falling equipment, electricians and DICI technicians made the site safe by:
    • Disconnecting power
    • Cleaning up cables
    • Closing up hazardous holes that could endanger pedestrians
Outcome

A few weeks later, a full site rebuild was completed. The team returned to reinstate equipment and restore coverage to residents.

New Site Build in a Remote, Restricted-Access Location

Situation / Challenge

This new build site was in a remote area with severely restricted access. It formed part of a wider coverage network — deploying sites in low-density areas to provide emergency service coverage.

Teligent Response & Delivery
  • The site was located in a National Park with no level ground. This required significant civils work, including:
    • Excavating the bank
    • Building embankment support using gabion baskets before tower base excavation and mast erection could begin
  • Logistics were complex due to remote access challenges:
    • Access was difficult even for a 4x4, and numerous concrete lorries were required to cast the tower base.
  • To enable both build and long-term maintenance requirements, Teligent delivered bespoke access infrastructure:
    • A new track and bridge were purposely built to cross boggy ground and streams, then rise up steep slopes to the nominated location.
Outcome

The site was considered too expensive to build by other suppliers, but Teligent made it commercially possible. The site now provides the necessary coverage to support future emergency response needs.

Vodafone

First Network Consolidation / Co-Location Upgrade ("Mergco" Site) — 7-Day Delivery

Situation / Challenge

Teligent Limited is contracted to Vodafone for active works (rigging, commissioning, and integration services) and successfully completed the first supplier-delivered "Mergco" consolidation site. The work was delivered under close operator oversight because it was the first site to be integrated into the network under this program.

Scope of Work (Delivered in 7 Days)

This upgrade included a high volume of coordinated equipment changes and installation activities, including:

  • Removal of 2 existing cabinets
  • Installation of a new Vari cabinet
  • Removal of 6 legacy antennas and installation of:
    • 3 new interleaved antennas
    • 3 new Air antennas
  • Installation of:
    • 3 mid-high combiners
    • 3 high band combiners
  • Installation of 15 new ERS and re-utilization of 3 existing ERS
  • Installation of 96 jumpers from ERS to antenna
Outcome

All works were completed on time and to budget, and the site was successfully integrated into the network.

First 5G Site on the Island of Jersey

Situation / Challenge

Teligent Limited is contracted to Ericsson to upgrade the Island of Jersey's network from 4G to 5G. Being on an island introduced challenges with logistics and weather.
